HFPC 2026: Coming in May 2026!

Housing First is more than just housing—it’s about ensuring people have the stability of a home and the supportive services they need to thrive.

  • Housing First is more than just a program—it’s a fundamental shift in how we respond to homelessness. At its core, Housing First recognizes that a safe, stable home is the foundation for healing, recovery, and well-being. Instead of requiring people to prove they are "ready" for housing by meeting conditions like sobriety or treatment compliance, this approach ensures that housing comes first—without preconditions—because no one can truly focus on their health, stability, or future while struggling to survive without a home.

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all model. Housing First is a flexible, person-centered system that ensures people receive the right level of housing and support to meet their needs. For some, that may mean short-term financial assistance and help securing a home. For others, it may mean long-term rental subsidies or permanent supportive housing with wraparound services. What remains constant is the commitment to providing housing as a first step—not an end goal—so that people can regain stability and access the care and services they choose, at their own pace.

Housing First is an evidence-based approach that has transformed how communities address homelessness. It challenges outdated, ineffective methods that rely on fragmented services, temporary solutions, or rigid program rules that exclude those most in need. Instead, it builds systems where outreach, shelter, permanent housing, and supportive services work together seamlessly—ensuring that when someone needs housing, they get it, along with the support necessary to stay housed.

This approach is rooted in dignity, autonomy, and the understanding that homelessness itself is traumatizing. The longer someone remains unhoused, the harder it becomes to recover. Housing First disrupts this cycle, offering not just a roof over someone’s head, but a foundation for rebuilding their life. As more communities, healthcare providers, and policymakers recognize that housing is essential to health and well-being, Housing First continues to drive systemic change—proving that when we prioritize housing, we create real, lasting solutions to homelessness.

Explore the profound impact of Housing First approach at the 2026 Housing First Partners Conference (HFPC), coming in May 2026!

As we work to protect and advance this evidence-based approach, HFPC 2026 will bring together experts, practitioners, and advocates to share best practices, drive innovation, and strengthen our collective commitment. Housing is the foundation for health, wellness, and long-term stability—but lasting success comes from pairing housing with robust person-centered support that empowers individuals to rebuild their lives.

Whether you're an experienced practitioner or new to Housing First, connect with thought leaders, advocates, and changemakers to reaffirm that housing, combined with robust support, is the key to ending homelessness. Together, we can create a future where everyone has a safe, stable place to call home and where homelessness is met with dignity, support, and lasting solutions.
